gun control

I have vowed to not post anything controversial or political on Facebook anymore. But I took no such vow here on this blog. My Facebook friend Stephanie Adams posted this beautifully stated perspective tonight on gun control:

Remember when it was OK to drink and drive....then Moms got MADD. Gun regulation doesn't take away our right to bear arms just like regulating drinking while driving didn't take away our right to drink. You need a license to drive a car and there are rules about driving. A gun is dangerous...a car is dangerous...how they are used should be regulated for the safety of our children.

Not only for our children, but for the American people as a whole. It bothers me to the depths of my soul when someone is vocal and obnoxious about their beloved guns, but I refuse to argue with them about it. Instead I just smile and nod, or simply say nothing at all. Not because I don't have an opinion, and not because I'm too stupid or scared to express it. As the great Dr. Martin Luther King said: “Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.” 

 

football lunacy

There are several things that drive me nuts about football fans.

1- When they talk about the game as if they're actually a part of the team. You know, like "we played really well!" or "we kicked their asses!". No, you had your ass glued to the couch or a bar stool and yelled at the tv like an imbecile for the duration of the game. You did not do shit.

2- When they constantly trash talk a player. ie: Tom Brady. Guess what, he is rolling in millions of dollars with his supermodel wife and does not care what you or anyone else thinks. Your complaining about him (or anyone else) only perpetuates his popularity.

3- When they act like they could do a better job on the field than the athlete who dedicates his whole life to the sport. Please.

4- When they sulk after their team loses. Get over it. There are better things to sulk over if that's how you choose to spend your time.

And, does anyone else think that pro athletes are grossly overpaid?
