hey, twit

I have a twitter account. I've tweeted three times, my last tweet is from a year ago and says 'is teaching yoga at 6:30'. I get on twitter maybe once every couple of weeks because I follow some of my favorite celebs and I like to see what they're up to. If you know me personally, you probably know that I really enjoy trashy celebrity gossip. It's as much an addiction of mine as my morning coffee. Some of my favorite twits are the Kardashian sisters, Paris & Nicky Hilton and Holly Madison. Paris Hilton is currently in Las Vegas and as I'm sitting here in my living room on this rainy Monday morning, I can't help but think, "Oh, to be Paris Hilton." Some of her tweets include how much fun she had at the UFC Fight, her yummy dinner at Okada and her super fun time at Tryst. In recent months, I've seen her post photos of her new Roxy snowboard and talking about learning how to ride in beautiful Park City, Utah while in town for Sundance, photos of her hanging out in her private jet and talking about how much she loves sleeping on airplanes, etc etc etc. Girlfriend is always doing something fun and interesting. I know I'm not supposed to say this, but I envy her.

Meanwhile, here are some of the happy and exciting things in my life... If you're my facebook friend, you know that I recently fell in love with this nail polish a customer at my store was wearing. I asked her what kind it was and she nonchalantly told me it was Chanel. I googled it. $23. I went to Nordstom and found out that it was a limited edition color from the holiday season and there were only two bottles left. Immediately, this sense of urgency came over me and I decided that I had to buy it before it was gone. I decided to leave the store without it. I had the money to buy it, but I also had an empty gas tank. I thought about it on the walk home, and as I laid in bed that night. Yes, I take these things very seriously. I tried to justify the frivolous purchase by telling myself, "Well, Tami, you DO paint your nails regularly." This is true, my nails are almost always painted. But then I decided that I should explore other options, such as O.P.I. I found this color called 'over the taupe', but Fred Meyer didn't have it and I couldn't really tell what it would look like in the tiny photo online. So this customer comes in yesterday and she has this lovely color on her nails. I was sure it was the Chanel color. So, of course, I asked her what it was. I explained to her that I was on the hunt for the perfect 'taupey' nail color and she happily told me that it was O.P.I. 'You Don't Know Jacques'. Score! I had found a solution to the "I love that color but can't afford Chanel" dilemma. Now, all I had to do was actually track down the color. I knew Fred Meyer didn't have it, because if they did I would have seen it for sure. I decided to pop into Blush Beauty Bar on my walk home. I love to shop local whenever I can! I'd much rather support a local business over Nordstrom anyday! So I go into Blush and head over to their nail polishes. They're pricy. $14 range. That's pushing it for me. One thing I do love about Blush is that they have testers of all their colors, so you don't have to feel sneaky when applying the color to your thumbnail in the store. I tried on this color by 'Butter' The color was nice, although a little light for my liking, but the consistency was a bit goopy. It wasn't 'the one'. I decided to take a look at their other brands, no luck. Just as I was about to leave I happened to see three lone polishes in the top left corner. They were O.P.I. One looks perfect. I grab it. I look at the bottom. It's 'You Don't Know Jacques'. I bought it, and to make the experience even more amazing, the sales girl gave me the neighbor discount for working down the street. I came home and immediately put it on and decided that it was the best $7 I will spend all week. Yes!

And that is my life. A paragraph about my desire to be like Paris Hilton followed by a whole paragraph detailing my search for the perfect nail polish. Feel free to 'de-friend' me now.

friday

It's raining. Again. This is really starting to damper my mood in a big way. That combined with the fact that I just paid $335 to the City of Richmond, where I haven't lived for well over a year, and $300 to the collection agency they turned me over to for not paying taxes. It's hard to pay something when you never receive a fucking bill. Apparently, even though I never got a bill it was my responsibility to just know that I owed taxes to a city where I haven't lived since January of 2009, and I was supposed to contact them to pay it. So yes, I have been eating spaghetti and fucking toast for a month trying to save every penny that I bust my ass for, so that I can give the City of Richmond money. I could cry. Or scream. Or both. That is some crooked shit.

wednesday

Oh my gosh. This weather is so depressing. I am so sick of rain! It is really affecting my mood. I just checked the 10 day forecast, and they're calling for rain every single day. For the next 10 days. I can't take this! I am listening to Beirut in my dark living room, drinking coffee at 5 pm, and thinking about what my yoga playlist will be tonight. My body and mind are both craving sun right now. I just hope the weather is nice when Miss Stormy is here. In case, I didn't already mention it on here, she will be here from June 18-June 27 and I am over the moon! I have lots of things planned for us. Let me start a new paragraph and tell you all about it...

I definitely plan to take her to the coast. A woman came into my store the other day and we chatted for a while about the coast and she told me she lived in Manzanita and owned an ocean front wine bar. I'd never heard of that town, but she said it's only 15 minutes from Cannon Beach. Unfortunately, Stormy is only 15 and is not allowed in the wine bar. She did tell me to pop in and say hello and check the place out, so I think I will. Her name was Dixie and I liked her. Sounds like it may be a good place to go with Ben and Dana when they come to visit in July, if the four of us can make it to the coast together. So the day we go to the coast, Stormy and I will visit Cannon Beach, Indian Beach, Ecola State Park and Manzanita. We'll spend the whole day there and have lunch at Mo's overlooking the ocean and Haystack Rock! Another day, we'll take a little road trip East and go to Multnomah Falls (maybe hike to the top if she's interested), Hood River and Timberline Lodge. Hopefully it will be a clear day so we can actually see Mt. Hood. I still think it would be neat to take her there, whether it's clear or not. Then she can see what real mountains look like! Obviously we won't be dining or sleeping there due to everything being so astronomically overpriced! I also plan to take her to the Mission Theater one day (has to be during the day since she isn't 21), hopefully something good will be playing. There's so much out here that I want her to see! I can't wait. We will have so much fun. We're also going to have 'New Moon night' with Julia and Kyla one evening! Loads of fun all around.

I just got a text from Cora that her daughter was born today! Very exciting news, they decided not to find out the sex of the baby until it was born, so obviously- IT'S A GIRL! Little Lucy Lynn Hite! I can't wait to see pictures. Up until now, I had been referring to the baby as 'Lunah' because they had Lucy picked out for a girl, and Jonah picked out for a boy!

I caught up on Jaime's blog today. I love her blog. Her life seems so much more interesting than mine! This coming from the girl who is sitting in front of the computer drinking coffee and only took her pj's off once today to teach yoga at 5:45 am. Yea. Oh, and also Julia came over this morning before she went to work, so that makes my day a little more interesting, right?! Jaime is a great writer and right now she is in Tobago for a friend's wedding. How could that not be fun to read about?!

I think I'll go hop in the shower now. I am taking a spinning class before yoga tonight. A good 50% of my Wednesday night students take spinning and then head right next door to my class. Tonight, I will spin with them! I'm looking forward to it, because I love the spinning.

heron haus

www.heronhaus.com

A woman gave me her business card today, and I'm thinking, yea ok, whatever. When I went to her website I was really excited by what I saw. She owns this adorable little bed and breakfast really close to my house and it looks like heaven. Check out the website. I want to stay in the Kulia room!

sunday

I have got to say how disappointed I am in this coffee I got from Trader Joe's the other day. I thought it would be good because it's Ultra Dark French Roast and I ground the beans in the store, but I think it tastes pretty watery! It's just not very full bodied. I can't like it! And I have a whole can of this crap to drink. At least Keith will be home soon to help me, but really I'm the one who drinks it all anyway!

I went to Julia's last night for Twilight. Turns out, we couldn't stop talking long enough to watch it and we ended up only watching 7 minutes in 3 hours! Oh well. The conversation was better than the movie would have been anyway!

So there's this pair of jeans I'd been wanting from Banana Republic for a few months. They were $90, and I didn't want to spend that much, even with my amazing discount. So last night I decided that I had a few extra bucks in my bank account and I really wanted the jeans. When I went in, all the jeans were on the sale rack for $19.99, and I was able to get the exact pair I had originally wanted, plus one more, both for $35 after my discount. What a success! Even though I had a crappy day at work, I have to say that my night was pretty awesome!

I can not even begin to express my disappointment in this coffee. Just horrible. Tastes like something you'd get at a gas station or something! Well, it's not quite that bad, but close. It tastes kinda like the coffee at Biscuits, which I am not a fan of. Too watery.

I'd like to share this lovely gem with you. A friend said this earlier in the week about, not to, but about her boyfriend. "Why don't you want to go jogging and stop eating cinnamon buns for breakfast so you can be sexier?!" I laughed. A lot. Also, while Stefi was talking about her brother in-law's brother crashing on their couch for the summer and needing to grow some balls to deal with his ex-girlfriend, something came up about him having "the penis, the power and the paycheck", but no balls. She said it way better than I ever could. I wish I had written the whole thing down. Julia also said something last night that I can't recall, andI wish I had written that down as well. Time to start carrying a notebook around I guess!

saturday

Happy Saturday! I wish it was brighter out. Unfortunately, it's quite cold and dreary. This morning, I woke up at 8 (an hour later than I'd wanted) and had some ultra dark French Roast (that I freshly grinded at Trader Joe's last night!) and chatted on the phone with Stefi about dreams. I had a weird one last night.

I was considering a trip to the gym this morning, which is why I set my alarm for 7, but I worked myself really hard Tuesday-Friday and felt like my body would benefit more from a break than a run. Fridays are tough because I teach three classes and do 30-60 minutes of my own workout. Makes me tired!

I am really looking forward to this evening. I'm going to Julia's to watch Twilight with her and her sister, Kyla. Julia's never seen it! It will be fun. Speaking of movies, and movies that are about to come out, I am getting a little concerned for SATC2. I haven't heard much hype about it, and I just don't know if it's going to be very good. I mean, I've seen trailers where the girls are riding a camel through the desert. What is that all about? I haven't even decided if I'm going to waste $11 on going to see it. Maybe I will just wait to see if it comes to the Mission or Laurelhurst.

I'm so sick of rain. I wish I was in Virginia with Keith. I am starting to miss him. The first few days have been nice, but now I am starting to get lonely. He will be home on Tuesday night.

There are some people whose energy levels I just don't know how to handle. A woman came into my store earlier and was really high strung. She would ask me a question, and before I could spit out an answer she was on to something else. She also spoke really fast. Calm down, honey. I can't understand you! Also, I had these two couples (European, I think) who couldn't do anything but bitch about things being made in China. I can't even begin to tell you how irritating it is to hear that over and over. Blah Blah Blah. In one ear and out the other.

I am dreaming of Ben & Jerry's at Julia's tonight. Can. Not. Wait.

sleep

Tomorrow shall be a glorious day! I do not have to wake up to an alarm and I have the whole day off! Holy crap. That almost never happens! I bet I am going to be so lazy and not accomplish a single thing. I really have laundry that needs to be done...

Stormy officially has a plane ticket to Portland this summer! I am really looking forward to having her here and showing her a whole new part of the world! I definitely plan to take her to the coast one day, and I also want to take her to Timberline, Multnomah Falls and Hood River, which can all be done in the same day if need be. Since it isn't really summer here until like July, I am hoping it will be warm enough for us to float down the Sandy River. Keith and I did that once last year and it was so much fun! Stormy would love it. I guess I should buy some Keen water sandals before then!

Today I taught two classes and worked out for an hour. Lots of physical activity, folks. And then I went to the grocery store and DAMN if the Ben & Jerry's wasn't still on sale for $2.50. I couldn't resist. I bought a pint of "cinnamon buns" and it is so amazingly tasty. Maybe one of my favorites. After I finish this pint, I need to vow to not eat that crap again for the rest of the summer. 1, it's an unnecessary expense, and 2 it's just horrendous for you! But sometimes a girl just needs some ice cream. Whatever.

Jenn posted some pictures on facebook tonight and they are so cute. Little Ellie was in her bathing suit! I could just eat her up with a spoon, she is so cute!

I should go. I need to have a conversation with Simon about how he is not to wake me up in the morning.

ambient

I woke up this morning feeling inspired. Not sure why, but I like it. I decided that I should fix my hair, even before I had my coffee. I've never done it like this before. Not that it's anything spectacular, but I think it's pretty cute. I braided the front to the side and put it in a ponytail. See. Nothing spectacular. I also put on makeup, which I haven't done in forever. Somewhere along the road, I have become the anti-superficial. Not in a sloppy-I-don't-care-what-I-look-like kind of way, but in a good way. I also had this urge to clean the kitchen, so I did! All before 9 am. Now I'm sitting here having coffee and yogurt. Life feels good right now.

Last night, Keith and I went to see Crazy Heart. That was my 9th Best Picture nom, and I can see why it received the nomination. It was fantastic! I loved it. I think my dad would really enjoy it. Note to mom- have Daddy netflix it!

I have to say that the orange nails I raved about a couple blogs ago are failing to impress. It's cute for the toes, but I much prefer something darker for my nails. Like my 'black platinum' or 'hot for chocolate'. Suits me better, I think.

The Massive Attack Pandora station is pretty good. I've been enjoying it recently. So ambient!

Last night, I was looking at photos of Keith and me in my Monument Ave apartment. I miss that place. I don't know whatever made me give that place up. Well, I do know- I wanted to try something new, something different. Mistake. I've never lived anywhere (except for with my parents when I was a kid) that felt like home the way that place did. Beautiful high ceilings, marble fireplace, shiny hard wood floors, huge windows. I really miss that place! I would love to go in it again someday. I had some of the best memories in there, and some of the worst. Gotta take the good with the bad. I think I've been a little homesick recently. I was talking with Melanie last night and she is really homesick for Portland, even though she is a native Virginian. That's what gets tricky- Virginia used to be my home. Now Oregon is my home. They both feel like home to me and I think that's confusing. If I were ever to move back to Virginia, I would miss Oregon so much, and the friends I've made here. I haven't made a ton of friends, but the ones I have made are quality. When it comes to friends (and most other things in my life), I definitely prefer quality to quantity. On the way home from the movie last night, Keith and I were talking about moving. I want to live in California so badly, and all I have done is talk about it for the past six years. I think we need to bite the bullet, save a few thousand bucks and just do it, even if only for a little while. Portland feels like home enough that we could come back if we wanted.

I mentioned a while back that I was on a budget, and I am happy to report that it's going very well. I will be honest and say that my bank account has only a measly $11 in it, but that's okay because all of my bills are paid and I have food to eat. I've been working as much as I can and that's really helping. I don't feel so much like I am drowning anymore. Let's hope things stay smooth like this, and that my bank account grows more and more each month.

I should go. I haven't checked my celebrity gossip yet, and that's as much a morning priority as my coffee.

bizzy

Things are feeling a little messy today, which only adds to my desperate desire to get away. Keith is leaving Tuesday morning for Virginia. I wish I could go. Maybe I will enjoy having the apartment to myself for a week? Ina and I have talked about doing something outside of the city when he's gone, but our work schedules complicate any potential plans. Same with Julia. Not okay. I want to go snowboarding so badly.

Last night was a super blast and just what I needed. Ina and I had dinner outside, along with dessert and a beer. We walked around for a bit before deciding we should have another beer at a swanky little place called Pazzo. Last Tuesday night, Keith and I had dinner with Julia and John at Bara Sushi and that was a delight as well. We hung around chatting for two plus hours and also ran into Ryan and Amber there. It's been a good week, friend-wise.

I have got to do something for myself. I want like four days off, but I need the money so badly. And if I had four days off, I wouldn't have the cash to do anything anyway. When I do have time off I just get bored because I'm so financially drained. I think I would just like a day where I didn't have to wake up to an alarm. I wish someone would drop a couple hundred bucks in my lap and say, "You have to use this on a spa day." Yea right. Wouldn't that be nice? My brain hurts.

soul

I am in touch with my soul. Very much so. I generally consider that to be a good thing. But right now it wants something that it can not have. Sometimes I feel trapped. I do love the city, but sometimes I just want out. I want to get away. If I had money, I would get away tonight. I would drive up to Timberline with a friend and have a quiet dinner. Or I would drive to the coast by myself and watch the sun set. If I had the combination of time and money, I would take a great road trip. Alone. One day I hope to be able to do that. I would get in my car and just drive. I would head down the Pacific coast, swim in the ocean, stay in nice hotels, stay in tents in the woods, take a million photos, try different foods. I would drive through the desert and practice yoga on the side of deserted roads. I would laugh, cry, write, sing, dance, and feel everything that I need to feel.

glow worm

After three cups of coffee, I am still feeling tired! I have been feeling this way recently. People always say that working out gives you lots of energy, but I would like to disagree. I spend about 45 minutes a day in the gym (obviously, that is not including the hours I spend teaching), and I feel exhausted! Even if I spent 45 minutes working out every single day, I feel like that should be fine. Lululemon says you should do something to make yourself sweat every single day. Does laying in the sun count? I'd like to do that. Perhaps I am so tired because I have only been sleeping 7-8 hours a night. It's irritating when people tell me that 10 hours is too much. For you, maybe. But in my world, ten hours is ideal. Another myth I don't agree with- you can't catch up on lost sleep. Again, in my world, you can.

Today is Cora's baby shower. I am sad that I can not be there. But I did send her a swaddle blanket to wrap that sweet baby in! Becky's baby shower is coming up, too. Unfortunately, I can't make that one either. I wonder what Keith and I will send her? I requested that she PLEASE add some baby gowns to her registry because there are few things in this world cuter than a baby in a gown, and she actually added one! I feel like I should be the one to buy it for her. So cute! If I ever have a baby, it will live in gowns. And I will tie the drawstring at the feet. My heart feels all warm and mushy just thinking about a baby in a gown! I just love it.

This morning I painted my nails 'sunrise, sunset'. It's orange and I got it at the Dollar Tree. It also came with a mega shine top coat. Both are by Sally Hansen. All that for just a buck! I will be frequenting that store more often from here on out. What a deal! I wonder if they sell baby gowns there?

icky!

Sometimes I really hate facebook. I get so disgusted when I see that some redneck 'friend' of mine from Virginia has posted photos of themselves posing with some deer they've just murdered, hanging upside down with blood and ooey gooey insides leaking out of its every orifice. That is so foul! I know I can make a conscious decision not to look at it, but when I see it pop up in my news feed, it's like a train wreck- I have to look. And then my mouth falls agape and I go, "Oh my God, that is so nasty and foul."
