I have opinions. I can't help it. No, I don't have to share them on my public blog, but you don't have to read it either! Here's my latest rant: the birthing process.

There's this thing going on called "designer birth" and I hate it! Hate it, hate it, hate it! Women should not be able to choose the day their baby is born, they should not be able to choose between a natural birth and a c-section, they should not be given drugs when they aren't dilating "fast enough", etc.! I don't have kids, so some people might think I have no right to talk about this because they think I don't know anything about it, but I am not an idiot. People DO have babies without drugs and without being induced. I don't know anyone who went into labor naturally recently, and I know quite a few people who have recently given birth. The percentage of c-sections in this country is outrageous. It's over forty percent. And I'd love to know the percentage of births that are natural and without drugs. I bet it's less than twenty five percent.

I highly recommend The Business of Being Born. It's a wonderful, informative documentary. At the end of the day, it is the woman's choice the way she chooses to give birth, and I would NEVER take that away from her. But I do think American women could stand to be a little more informed on the subject.
