I talked to Lynne briefly on facebook this morning. It was nice. Hadn't heard from her in a really long time.
Our apartment is hot. I forgot what it was like to not have air conditioning.
Last night was nice. They closed off a block in Ryan and Amber's neighborhood and had a cute little party. Lots of kids and their dread-headed parents. It felt so very Portland, and I liked it. At one point, the kids were given glow sticks and they had their own little rave party. It was cute. Someone was holding a really cute baby. The baby was wearing orange ear plugs and was in awe of the fireworks. He was probably 10-12 months old. I wanted to hold him. I really wanted to hold him. I used to hate kids, then I was blessed with my nephews and I liked them, but not other kids. Now I love all kids. And babies. They are so cute. And sweet. Keith still thinks babies look like aliens. I used to think "How could my dad have not been 'ready' for a baby at 31 when my mom got pregnant with me?" Now I understand. 31 is not very old. Keith will be 31 in a year and a half. I always say that I still don't think my dad is ready for me!
We might be going hiking with Ben and Stacy today. I think that would be fun. I love hiking, but the only place we know to go is Multnomah Falls. I love it there. Last time we went, we went to the top of the falls, which is about a mile, but then we went beyond that and it was the coolest thing ever. The hike up to the top of the falls is okay. There are a lot of people. Lots of kids and people with their dogs. The trail is paved. Once you go beyond that, there is still a trail but it is no longer paved, and there are far less people. We didn't explore too terribly much, but what we did see was really amazing. I look forward to going back and maybe even hiking to the other side of the mountain. I know you can do that. There are lots of parks and places to hike out here called 'fee parks', meaning the obvious: you have to pay a fee to get in. I bet they are really beautiful.
I am so glad I started blogging when I did. I started soon after I moved to Portland. So now I have huge part of my new life on record. Very cool. I bet if Cristena had a blog it would be very interesting.
Keith is watching Entourage next to me. I love that show, the relationship between Lloyd and Ari completely makes it.
I am trying to eat less food and drink more water. I already drank a lot of water, but I want to drink more. And I had developed this, "I can eat whatever I want, whenever I want because I exercise" attitude, and it's just not healthy. I don't necessarily mean eat less food. What I meant was eat more consciously. That's better.
I am going to go to the gym this morning, but I need to wake up a little more first. I am tired. I woke up at 8 because it was so hot. We can't sleep with the window open because there's so much noise outside, between bums and the max. And the fan seems to blow hot air. But nothing compares to the summer I spent on Grace Street with no a/c! What a nightmare!
Well I suppose I am done blogging for now. Happy sunday!
xoxo,
t
