sad

I have a heavy heart today. I am sad for the 300 million turkeys being raised and killed just for human consumption. I am truly sad and disheartened by the general lack of concern and compassion for these animals. Some people make jokes and think it's funny, but it's not. It's not funny to tease or taunt me because I choose to care. It's not funny that turkeys are injected with hormones to make them grow faster and larger and you put that in your body. It's not funny that turkeys throats are slit while they are still conscious, or that they live in deplorable conditions where they stand in their own urine and feces and are too crowded to even flap their wings. And I am sad to live in a world where all of this is ignored, or even worse, acceptable.
