There is nothing like a southern redneck. I've been a lot of places and seen a lot of things, and met all different types of people. Southern rednecks are their own breed. Some people out here drive trucks and hunt and fish, but they don't compare to the southern redneck. The folks out here who enjoy hunting and fishing are more just outdoorsy than anything else. I have seen very few confederate flags on Oregon and I can't say that I mind. I have noticed that the south is still very much stuck in it's old southern ways. Race doesn't really seem to be an issue here the way it is back home. Although Brandy told me yesterday that in North Portland, there's a group of black men who hold megaphones and yell about white people (specifically women) being the devil. Excuse me, but why is this okay? If I stood on a corner with a megaphone complaining to everyone who walks by about black people, I would be killed, on the news, in jail, or maybe all three. But black people can get away with this sort of thing. Are people scared to say something to them for fear of the race card being pulled, or what? It gets on my nerves! When I have kids, I will raise them to not see color. Closed-minded people (black or white, and it goes both ways) piss me off. These are the kinds of people who need to close their mouths and open their minds and hearts.
