I had my audition at 24 Hour Fitness this morning. I got a little nervous because my GPS took me to an apartment complex rather than the gym, but I eventually found it on my own. The facility was so nice. And the yoga studio was really nice too. I had my audition with Michelle and she was very nice. There was a class going on in the group x studio so I did my audition in the cycling room. It was a little strange. I've never had to do an audition before. She sat on a bike with a pen and a notebook and I rolled my mat out and gave her a sample of the beginning of one of my classes, and a sample flow. She said she thought I was adorable and she wanted to offer me the job, and I happily accepted. I start next Wednesday. For now I have two classes per week that are all my own. Wednesdays and Fridays at 5:45 am. She said people on the west coast are so much more into group exercise than people back east and some locations downtown have up to 100 students in one class. She said my class typically has 15-30 students. I also picked up two Sunday sub classes as well. I can't wait to start teaching here! I also get to use any of the 13 24 Hour Fitness Facilities in Portland for free. That's the gym Keith goes to, so we will be able to go together which will be very nice.
I got a little homesick today and cried. But I suppose that's to be expected. I love and miss so many people back home. But my new life here is just beginning...
